Germany-based fragrances and flavourings manufacturer Symrise has opened its new production site in Nantong, China.
By opening its new €50m facility, Symrise intends to strengthen its presence in the Chinese fragrances and flavourings market.
The facility was virtually opened through a video conference and witnessed by the executive board, senior staff, plant workers and guests.
Symrise CEO Dr Heinz-Jürgen Bertram said: “The celebratory and partially virtual opening of our plant in Nantong demonstrates our trust in the Chinese market, and we are consciously committing ourselves to the world’s strongest growth region. Of course, we are also keeping a close eye on how the Covid-19 situation is progressing here.
“From these observations, we enacted measures and were successful in keeping our entire business running and opening our plant as planned. Ultimately, we want to reliably serve our customers in China and grow with them. A big thank you, therefore, goes to the flexibility and extreme dedication of our employees.”
In 2016, Symrise decided to build the facility in the industrial park on the green field, as the company was convinced that the site would offer a versatile potential.
It added that the site is located near Shanghai and offered a business environment with numerous sustainability aspects.
In November 2018, Symrise opened a facility near Atlanta in Georgia, US, with an investment of €50m.
Located in Banks County, the facility is expected to help the firm expand its business with natural ingredients for the US food industry market.
The plant will manufacture products for various business units, including food ingredients, Symrise flavour and pet food.
